Biography

My name is Laura Hicks.  This will be my 24th year in education.  I love teaching math and science and seeing students' faces light up when they make connections with their everyday lives.

 

I grew up in Deer Park and went to DPE, DPJH, and DPHS.  I have 1 brother, 2 sisters, and 2 sisters-in-law plus their families (11 nieces and nephews).  They all grew up and still live in Deer Park.  Fun fact, my sister (Amanda Nunn) is our DPE School Nurse.  I'm involved in city politics and am a member of a few committees.  I love this town and DPE!

 

My husband is Jerry Hicks.  We graduated together from Deer Park High School.  We have 2 daughters.  Mallory graduated from Texas A&M in 2022 with a degree in Environmental Science.  Layton is starting her second year at San Jacinto College.  We love camping, hiking, kayaking and floating the river.  Also, I can't forget to mention our 2 cockapoos, Barkley and Boots.  They are twin brothers and are partners in crime.  :)

 

I am looking forward to a new year full of adventures; this year is going to be AMAZING!!!!!
